Canaries to Azores- Winter Sun milebuilder (4-12 April 2010)

Join on Saturday 2nd April in Las Palmas, set sail  on the 4th and arrive in Horta approximately 6 days later before leaving the yacht on the 12th April

 

12 degrees official agent for Big Spirit Adventures is offering the chance to eacape the cold grey gloom of winter and spend a week sailing up the Atlantic Ocean from Gran Canarias to the Azores.

 

This stunning 850 plus nautical mile sail starts on the sunny Island of Grand Canarias leaving from the capital city of Las Palmas and arrives on the island of Faial at a little port on the South West Coast called Horta, one of the most famous mid Atlantic stop offs for yachts.

 

When you join Big Spirit you’ll have the chance on your arrival day to settle in and explore Las Palmas, the beaches and restaurants ready for the following day spent training on the boat at sea, getting your sea legs and practicing safety drills and sail handling.

 

We’ll then be heading off for the 850nm sail North West to the Azores, enjoying sunshine and arrive approximately 6 days later.

 

Then a chance to unwind and explore the island see all the yacht paintings on the harbor wall (and see if you can find the Big Spirit one from our last visit!) before heading back home with a great tan and some fantastic sailing experience covering all areas of handling the yacht.  For those of you looking for something a bit different, our 72ft yacht will be crossing the Atlantic over the Christmas and New Year break. Sailing against the prevailing winds and currents will make for an exciting run in a boat built exactly for this type of adventure.
